Yesterday was such a great day! I woke up early and fed Savannah then ran out to do the grocery shopping. Wal-Mart on a Saturday before 9am is DEAD which is great...however there are only two lanes open so for the 10 of us there we had a bit of a wait to check out. Ha! We then spent the morning/afternoon at the pool. Our sweet friends the Miller's met us for an hour or so too! Unfortunately its been so hot and trying to keep Savannah out of the sun (ie::out of the water) leads to our littlest Miss getting pretty hot an sweaty and yesterday she started getting heat rash on her face. Both girls get very red in the face when they are hot and that's our cue to head inside to the air conditioning!
During naps Jared fiddled with the yard (he is tyring to bring it back after accidentally killing it by putting iron on it a month or so ago) and I baked some yummy egg fritattas. My neighbor made them for one of our play dates and they were *delish* so she sent me the recipe. I must say hers were so much better than mine! I'm on a baking kick now and am currently baking more strawberry bread. Jared's been requesting it and I got a good deal on strawberries from wal-Mart, although they definitely aren't as ripe as our hand picked ones. I added more sugar so hopefully that will sweeten it up a bit! This bread is seriously my favorite. It is so easy to make, makes the hosue smell yummy and tastes amazing!
Last night I was able to get out by myself for a couple hours. My MIL bought me a few dresses for an early bday present (Thank you Jeanee!) and I received store coupons for $75 off $125. SO off I went to update my wardrobe...well my sweet friend who works there gave me all kinds of discounts and I ended up walking away with $200 worth of stuff for only $47!! Can't beat a great deal like that! Unfortunately I woke up at 330am having an allergic reaction to something that must have been on said clothes. When I got home last night and showed Jared what I bought my wrist was itching, but I didn't think much about it. By 330am I had hives pretty much all over and was pretty miserable. The problem is since I am breastfeeding I can't take benadryl without it affecting my breast milk (it doesn't for everyone but it decreases my supply) so this time around I just took Children's Claritin and I already feel much better even though I still have hives. Ugh!!! I hate having sensitive skin. Really, if I even change my face powder or lotion I end up breaking out. The first time this happened to me in college I didn't know what it was and went to the ER, come to find out it was due to my detergent. I was using whatever brand/smell was the cheapest (hey, I was in college thats what we do right??!!) and it irritated me too much. So now its all clear, unscented for this family!! Needless to say those new clothes will be washed right away!!
Also, yesterday we tried giving Savannah a bottle at the pool...I had pumped before we went so we could go right at 10am when the pool opened. This girl would.not.take the bottle for anything. For those of you who have ever gone through this with a child, you know how frustrating this is. Although Savannah has some meat on her bones so I wasn't worried about her starving!! Ha! I tried the bottle, Jared tried, my friend Allison tried...nothing. I thought maybe she wasn't hungry so we waited...no such luck. She ended up falling asleep and then woke up at her next feeding which she took from me fine. I tried another type of bottle later that night and again she wouldn't take it. Normally this wouldn't be horrible, however Jared & I have plans for an overnight date night next week when my parents are here and her not eating for three feedings would be a huge deal! So last night on my way home I bought two new bottles hoping maybe she was just being picky and sure enough she took a bottle like a champ this morning. Not sure if it was the bottle or the fact that she was still drowsy but I'm going to try again in a little with the bottle and hope she takes it! Allison did point out to me that at least its not like she was refusing to eat at all...she would eat from me. If she did this and was only eating from bottles with no other option, I would probably stress out more, so it could be worse and I do feel loved!! Ha ha!
My parents arrive tomorrow and are staying for a week (or more if I have anything to say about it...get ready daddy, mom and I will tag team you!!) And Jared's mom comes in Thursday. We have a pizza party/pool party planned Friday night with Jared's cousin & her kids before they head to the beach and then Jayne's party Saturday. Let the craziness begin...whoop whoop!
