Jayne Caroline Steier
6lbs 1oz
18 1/4"
Born at 1:07pm Sunday, June 7th

I woke up at 2:30am having one or two good (painful) contractions an hour. By 6am I started timing them and they were coming every 8 minutes. I woke Jared up at 7am and we started getting ready for the day. We picked up the house, did laundry, took showers and I vacuumed in between contractions (had to do something to keep my mind of it!!! we then met Jared's aunt and uncle for coffee and the contractions were still coming every 2-8 minutes. Called the doctors office and they said to come in and get checked, but that they would probably either make me walk around to see if they stopped and send me home, so we weren't thinking "this is it".

We got to the hospital around 9:30am, answered questions and got all hooked up to the monitors. By they time the doctor checked me around 10:30 I was 6cm dilated and having very painful contractions...,then I met my new best friend...Mr. Epidural man. LOVE HIM!!!! After that, I was golden and almost asleep. The nurse checked me again at 12pm and I was almost completely dilated and my bag of water was "bulging"...sorry if that is TMI!! The new doctor on call came in and said it wouldn't be long and boy were they right. he broke my water and everything went super fast from that point. I started pushing at 12:38pm and Jayne arrived at 1:07pm. And I giggled my way through the pushing. I hate to say it, but delivery was the easy part. I tore pretty badly and the doctor spent more time fixing me than delivering the baby!!! I'm starting to feel more pain and cramping now, but otherwise I am doing great.

Jayne is perfect. 10 fingers, 10 toes, loooooong eye lashes, her daddy's nose and my lips. She is beautiful and perfect and we are thrilled to finally have her here. I was so sure it was a boy that I'm a little shocked to have a DAUGHTER!!!!! She took to breastfeeding like a champ and hasn't cried all that much. She is so tiny and light as a feather. This has been such a surreal experience!!
